Hey all!

I've heard this question many times, it might be interesting for other sections / countries as well: Is there any documentation on which galaxy roles exist and which roles have which rights? It would be an important tool for new presidents, because the current role system is not very evident to understand. Is there any country which already have such guidelines?

Also how to handle if a member wants to be in 2 different countries, e.g. changed the country?

Thanks for this but it doesn't explain which role can have which right, and the use of giving additional roles to persons.

As I wrote before, this depends of each Satellite. We can tell the default settings, but each Satellite can have different configuration rights.
The roles, in fact, they are only there so you can then take decision on giving access or not to a specific function of a website.

Maybe yes, we can document the international ones, or at least the ones related to international websites, or that affect other roles (such as the NR and LR ones that can give roles to other people). However, the ones related to Satellites or to random events, such as the ones created in ERS, or forms, where the creator defines the access are totally out of hand to be explained.

Thanks for the fast answer! I see, in the dropdown I can search which member has which galaxy role. But my question was more oriented for: How can somebody know which access & privileges come with every specific galaxy role? for example: To edit the local satellite page you need now only Local.activeMember but also Local.RegularBoardMember. These are important infos that presidents cannot know just like this, without trying it out. There are also galaxy roles with unknown utilities and there's no overview of what is the point of giving these roles to somebody. What I'm looking for is and overview, like datasheet or docs or so. As I said we could maybe extract this info from the source code.

Hey Mikka!

You can always find all the possible roles in the dropdown menu in the Search page of accounts.esn.org. There there are all the existing roles listed. Note that the reported roles by CAS have the section code appended before the role name, for example FI-ESPO-HKI_Local.President

Then about the rights, a bit of summary:

* ITCom Support and Chairing team can access to any Satellite as long Satellite is configured for it (National Webmasters can access in any site in their country)

* LRs and NRs and Presidents can give any role to any one under their Country/Section.

* Usually each role can allow extra permissions in the page of their project: Movi'n Europe roles give extra access in Movi'n Europe site.

* Only ITChairs or International WPA can change people between sections.

Otherwise, each site has its own permissions per roles, so it's difficult to generalize, as anyone can edit the permissions given per role in each satellite or website.
